Privacy and cookies

Last updated: November 4, 2026

Pin the City is a free website of curated places. There are no accounts: we only collect what you choose to send us through the “Suggest a place” form. This page explains the little that is collected and how you stay in control of it.

Who is responsible

Jon. For any privacy question, email jonproyectoscode@gmail.com.

Analytics, only if you accept

If you click “Accept”, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how many people visit and what they do here: which cities and collections they open, which filters they use and how many collections get saved to Google Maps. It tells us what is useful and which cities to add next.

  • We don't send Google anything that identifies you, and Google Analytics 4 doesn't store IP addresses.
  • We don't use the data for advertising and keep Google's advertising features switched off.
  • Legal basis: your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). If you click “Reject”, Google Analytics is never loaded.
  • Provider: Google Ireland Ltd. Data may be transferred to the US under the EU‑US Data Privacy Framework.
  • Usage data is kept for 14 months.

Place suggestions

If you use “Suggest a place”, we store the city, the place name, your text and, only if you enter it, your email. We use them solely to review the suggestion and, if you left your email, to tell you whether we added it.

  • Legal basis: your consent when you send the form (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). The email is optional.
  • They are stored with Supabase, on servers in the European Union (Ireland).
  • We delete the email as soon as we reply, and suggestions after 12 months at the latest.

Cookies and storage

NamePurposeDuration
tm-consentRemembers whether you accepted or rejected analytics. Stored in your browser; not a cookie.12 months
_gaGoogle Analytics: tells visitors apart anonymously. Only if you accept.2 years
_ga_46EQTTM7MJGoogle Analytics: keeps track of the session. Only if you accept.2 years

What happens either way

  • Hosting. The site runs on Vercel, which logs technical data for each visit (such as IP address and browser) to serve pages and protect against attacks. This is needed for the site to work (legitimate interest).
  • Map. Map tiles come from OpenFreeMap. When the map loads, your browser requests the tiles and, as with any web request, they see your IP address. They don't use cookies.
  • Google Maps. When you open a place or save a collection in Google Maps, you leave this site and Google's privacy policy applies.

Changing your mind

You can change your choice at any time from , also linked in the footer of every page. If you withdraw consent, we stop measuring and delete the Google Analytics cookies from your browser.

Your rights

You can ask to access, correct, delete, restrict or port your data, or object to its use, by emailing jonproyectoscode@gmail.com. If you think your rights aren't being respected, you can complain to the Spanish Data Protection Agency (aepd.es) or your local authority.
