The Prater wheel with the Danube Tower behind, seen over Vienna's rooftops

Viewpoint · Vienna

Danube Tower

Donaustadt

It was built in 1964 for an international garden show and, at 252 metres, is the tallest structure in Austria. A fast lift climbs to the observation deck around 150 metres up, and above it are a café and a restaurant that slowly revolve.

From the top you see the Danube, Danube Island, the Prater wheel, the old town and the towers of Donau City. It stands in the Donaupark, a large park beside the Alte Donau, an arm of the river where the Viennese swim in summer.
