The building of the Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology, by British architect Amanda Levete, opened in 2016: a low wave clad in about 15,000 white ceramic tiles that change colour with the light off the river. Its roof is a large ramp and viewpoint, free to all.
Exhibitions are temporary, of contemporary art and architecture. Next door, in the old Central Tejo, the brick power station that lit Lisbon for much of the 20th century, the original boilers and turbines survive.
