It fills half of the Mercado da Ribeira, the 1882 market hall opposite Cais do Sodré station. It opened in 2014 with an idea later copied around the world: bringing stalls from well-known chefs and restaurants under one roof, with long shared tables in the middle.
There is everything from salt cod and pork sandwiches to sushi, burgers and pastéis de nata, plus wine and beer bars. In the other half of the building the traditional fruit, fish and flower market still runs in the mornings.
