It is an early 20th-century park in the residential district of Vinohrady, named after 19th-century politician František Ladislav Rieger. It has a big west-facing lawn sloping down, with a view of the Castle and the towers of the centre over the rooftops.
At sunset locals sit on the grass to watch the sun go down behind the Castle. Up top, in season, a large beer garden with long tables opens, and the streets around the park have neighbourhood cafés and bars.
