It was Gaudí's first major commission: a summer house for Manuel Vicens, built between 1883 and 1885 in what was then the town of Gràcia. It has an Oriental and Mudéjar feel, with brick, stone and tiles showing the yellow marigolds that grew on the plot.
After more than a century as a private home, it opened as a house museum in 2017. You walk through decorated rooms with ceilings of painted palm leaves and birds, and up to a roof terrace over the rooftops of Gràcia.
