City Park (Városliget)

It is one of the first public parks in Europe and the great green lung of Pest. It starts behind Heroes' Square and gathers the Széchenyi Baths, Vajdahunyad Castle, the zoo, the circus and the ice rink on the lake, which has run since the 19th century.

New buildings have opened in recent years, such as the House of Music and the Museum of Ethnography with its walkable roof. In 2026 the new government cancelled the plan to move the National Gallery here, so that part of the park stays as it was.
