It opened in 1913 in a yellow neo-Baroque palace inside Városliget and is one of the largest spa complexes in Europe. The water rises from deep thermal wells at more than 70 degrees and is cooled to fill around twenty pools, most of them indoors.
The three big outdoor pools are the famous image: they steam in winter, and in one of them people play chess on floating boards. Inside are pools at different temperatures, saunas and steam rooms.
