It opened in 1956 on Avenida Almirante Reis and is still run by the same family. It is an old-school beer hall and seafood house: tiles, packed tables, quick waiters and shellfish ordered by weight, from garlic prawns to velvet crabs, goose barnacles or scarlet prawns.
The Lisbon custom is to finish with a prego, a garlicky steak sandwich with mustard, ordered here as «dessert». It all goes with ice-cold draught beer.
