Museumplein

This is the city's museum of modern and contemporary art and design. The original brick building from 1895 gained a white extension by Benthem Crouwel in 2012, nicknamed "the bathtub", which now serves as the entrance from Museumplein.

The permanent collection takes in Mondrian, Malevich, Matisse, Chagall, De Kooning, Warhol and the CoBrA group, plus Dutch design furniture and posters. Until 17 January 2027 it hosts a major Yayoi Kusama retrospective with timed entry.
