Lluís Domènech i Montaner built it between 1905 and 1908 for the Orfeó Català, a choir that wanted its own hall. It has been a World Heritage Site since 1997 and is a high point of Modernisme: a façade of brick, mosaics and sculptures on a narrow street in the Sant Pere district.
The concert hall is unique: walls almost entirely of glass, mosaic columns, muses emerging from the stage and, in the ceiling, a great stained-glass skylight shaped like an inverted sun.
