Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum

Paseo del Prado

The collection was assembled over two generations by the Thyssen-Bornemisza barons and bought by the Spanish state in 1993. It has been on show since 1992 in the Villahermosa Palace, opposite the Neptune fountain, alongside Carmen Cervera's collection.

It fills the gaps in the Prado: Italian primitives, Impressionists, German Expressionists, American painting and Pop Art. It is a walk through eight centuries of European painting in a museum more manageable than the other two on the Art Walk.
