The Círculo de Bellas Artes is a private cultural institution founded in the 19th century. Its home on Calle de Alcalá, designed by Antonio Palacios and opened in 1926, holds exhibition rooms, a cinema, a theatre and a lively café on the ground floor.
On the roof, beneath the statue of Minerva that crowns the building, a terrace offers one of Madrid's most famous views: the Metrópolis dome, Gran Vía and the rooftops of the centre, with the Royal Palace in the distance.
