It opened in 1933 on Avenida dos Aliados, with an Art Deco interior of columns, mirrors and high ceilings. Its name honours the Guaraní people, and its decoration includes Brazilian-themed murals.
It is known as «the musicians' café» because the city's musicians have always gathered here, and there are still evenings with live music. It is quieter and less touristy than the Majestic.
