Chapel of Souls

Baixa

The Chapel of Souls, also called Santa Catarina chapel, is a small 18th-century church right on Rua de Santa Catarina, Porto's busiest shopping street.

In 1929 its exterior was clad in some 16,000 blue-and-white tiles by Eduardo Leite, showing scenes from the lives of Saint Francis of Assisi and Saint Catherine. The contrast with the shop windows around it makes it one of the most photographed façades in the city.
