The Bolhão market opened in 1914 in a two-storey neoclassical building around a large courtyard. After years of decay it was fully restored and reopened in 2022, keeping the structure and many of its long-standing traders.
There are stalls selling fruit, vegetables, fish, meat, flowers, tinned fish and wine, plus small restaurants on the upper floor. It is the best place in the centre to see everyday Porto and try local produce.
