Stock Exchange Palace

Ribeira

Porto's Commercial Association built it from 1842 on the ruins of the São Francisco convent cloister, destroyed by fire during the 1832 siege. For over a century it was the city's stock exchange, and it is still the association's headquarters.

The tour starts in the Courtyard of Nations, under a glass dome bearing the arms of the countries Portugal traded with, and ends in the Arab Room, inspired by the Alhambra and decorated with gilded stucco over almost twenty years.
