Clérigos Tower

Vitória

The Clérigos church and tower are the work of Nicolau Nasoni, the Italian architect who filled 18th-century Porto with Baroque. The tower, finished in 1763, is about 75 metres tall and for a long time was the first sight of the city for ships coming up the Douro.

A spiral staircase of around 240 steps climbs to a balcony overlooking the red roofs, the cathedral, the river and the Gaia wine cellars. The ticket includes a small museum and the oval-shaped church.
