The Giolitti family opened a dairy in Rome in 1890 and in 1900 moved to Via degli Uffici del Vicario, two streets from Parliament, where it still is. The ice-cream counter became famous in the 1950s, and politicians and actors have been regulars for decades.
The display holds dozens of flavours, from classics like pistachio, hazelnut or zabaione to seasonal fruits, topped with whipped cream if you ask. Behind it is the period salon, with mirrors and marble tables.
