It opened in 1885 on the corner of Plaza de la Campana and Calle Sierpes, the main shopping street of the centre. It keeps its period décor, wooden counters and glass cases, and has been a meeting point for locals for generations.
The classics are yemas (candied egg yolks), tocino de cielo, chocolate palmiers and, at Easter, torrijas. The Official Route that every Holy Week brotherhood follows begins right outside its door, so on those days the square fills with stands and chairs.
