Anne Frank, her family and four others hid in the back house of Prinsengracht 263 from 1942 to 1944, until they were arrested and deported. Only her father, Otto Frank, survived, and he published his daughter's diary in 1947.
You enter through Otto's former business and reach the secret annex through the revolving bookcase. The rooms are empty, as the police left them, but the pictures Anne pasted on her bedroom wall and the pencil marks of the girls' heights are still there. The original diary is on display at the end.
