Great Market Hall

Ferencváros

Samu Pecz designed this iron and brick hall, which opened in 1897 beside Liberty Bridge. The colourful tile roof comes from the Zsolnay factory, like that of Matthias Church, and the building was fully restored in the 1990s.

The ground floor has stalls of fruit, cured meats, Pick salami, foie gras and sweet and hot paprika; the basement has pickles and fish. Upstairs, the gallery has lángos stands, Hungarian food, embroidery and souvenirs.
