It was the Duke of Buckingham's house, bought by George III in 1761. Queen Victoria was the first monarch to live here, from 1837, and the main façade, the one with the balcony, dates from 1913. It has 775 rooms, including 19 State Rooms.
Changing the Guard, with the band and the red-coated guards in bearskin hats, takes place at 11:00 on several days a week. The State Rooms open to the public only in summer, usually from July to September.
