This is the last iron market hall still standing in Madrid, opened in 1916 next to the Plaza Mayor. After decades of decline it was restored and reopened in 2009 as a food market, keeping its original frame behind glass walls.
Inside, around twenty stalls serve food to eat standing up: oysters, ham, croquetas, cheese, pickles and vermouth on tap. It is not a place to do your grocery shopping but to graze, and it costs more than a neighbourhood bar.
