Before you go

How to enjoy the Paris views

  1. Trocadéro after sunset

Every hour on the hour after dark, the Eiffel Tower sparkles for a few minutes. The Trocadéro is the best place to watch it.

  2. Reach the Arc by tunnel

Don't try to cross the Étoile roundabout: the Arc de Triomphe is reached through the underground passage from the Champs-Élysées.

  3. Montmartre early

The Sacré-Cœur steps fill up by mid-afternoon. Early in the morning the light over Paris is clearer and the lanes are quiet.

  4. Use the gardens as breaks

The Tuileries sit between the Louvre and the Orangerie, the Luxembourg next to Saint-Germain: grab one of the green chairs between sights.
