The top of the iron Petřín Lookout Tower

Viewpoint · Prague

Petřín Hill

Malá Strana

The hill rises about 130 metres above the Vltava and is crossed by the Hunger Wall, a rampart Charles IV had built in the 14th century. Its slopes hold fruit orchards that blossom in spring, a rose garden and the Štefánik Observatory.

At the top, the 63-metre lookout tower was built in 1891 for the Jubilee Exhibition, inspired by the Eiffel Tower; you climb 299 steps or take the lift. The funicular, closed since 2024 because of slope instability, reopened on 22 September 2026 with new cars.
