María Luisa Park

Distrito Sur

Infanta María Luisa Fernanda de Borbón gave part of the gardens of the San Telmo palace to the city in 1893. French landscape designer Jean-Claude Forestier redesigned it for the 1929 Exposition, with avenues, ponds and tiled glorietas dedicated to writers such as Bécquer and Cervantes.

At the south end is Plaza de América, with three exposition pavilions and hundreds of doves, and in the middle the Duck Island and Monte Gurugú, a small artificial hill with a waterfall. Its tall trees make it the coolest spot in central Seville in summer.
