Plaza de España

María Luisa Park

Aníbal González designed it as the main pavilion of the 1929 Ibero-American Exposition. The semicircle faces the Guadalquivir like an embrace towards the Americas, and a canal runs along it with four bridges standing for the old kingdoms of Spain.

Along the wall is a tiled bench for each province, with its map and a scene from its history, and the towers mix brick, Triana ceramics and regionalist style. It has appeared in films such as «Lawrence of Arabia» and «Star Wars: Attack of the Clones».
